Traumatism
First aid for sprains:
- Immobilize the affected joint by a bandage.
- Elevate the affected limb and keep at rest.
- Apply local cold.
- Evaluation of the injury by a physician.
Dislocation: is the permanent separation of the joint surfaces.
- Very sharp pain.
- Deformity (compare to the healthy limb) due to the loss of normal joint.
- Very obvious functional impotence.
First aid for dislocations:
- Immobilize the affected joint as it is.
- DO NOT reduce the dislocation.
Transfer to hospital for their reduction and definitive treatment by medical personnel.
