Traumatism

First aid for sprains:

  • Immobilize the affected joint by a bandage.
  • Elevate the affected limb and keep at rest.
  • Apply local cold.
  • Evaluation of the injury by a physician.
Dislocation: is the permanent separation of the joint surfaces.
  • Very sharp pain.
  • Deformity (compare to the healthy limb) due to the loss of normal joint.
  • Very obvious functional impotence.

First aid for dislocations:

  • Immobilize the affected joint as it is.
  • DO NOT reduce the dislocation.
Transfer to hospital for their reduction and definitive treatment by medical personnel.
